REDLINE

A fan made homage to the music of the very talented synth-wave artist LAZERHAWK!  Retro racing action challenges you to stay on the road while the music plays and guides you to your destiny.

Story synopsis:  The driver gets a call and the music starts; beckoning them to the road. The miles pass at break neck speeds and every minute they draw closer.  But who do they drive drive towards?  Do you want to find out?   Then let's get into that fast car!

In Game Controls: Navigate Menus  with the 'W' and 'S' keys.

***  VERY Important MAC install instructions ***

The game requires a small extra step prior to being able to run on the Mac OS.  Official GameMaker documentation is provided in the link below.

1. After downloading the Mac version of the game, unzip the file and the REDLINE folder should appear.

*** If you double click REDLINE  at this point this message will appear "App  is damaged and can't be opened, you should move it to the trash".  The following steps will show you how to resolve that issue and make the game playable. ***

2. Open the Terminal app (cmd+space, type  "Terminal",  press enter).

3. In the Terminal app, type the following command but do not press enter:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine  (include a space at the end).

4. Click and drag the REDLINE file that came from the initial .zip download onto the Terminal window. This will provide the command you typed with a path to the appropriate executable.

5. Press return. Nothing should actually happen.

6. Double click the REDLINE game file to run the game - it should now run successfully!

Beat it on my second try! Fun little racer game, the music goes nicely with it. Props to you for also syncing up certain parts of the game to music cues as well.

I will say that it is confusing to have the player overheat when they ARENT accelerating, meaning the first introduction a player has when not giving any input is near-immediate explosion.

Keep making cool games!

Thanks for the feedback!    Really glad you enjoyed! Working on my next one now.

This game is really fun!
-Nice, simple controls.
-The presentation before and after the game is very nicely put together :)
-The aliens were unexpected, but a fun challenge to keep me on my toes. It's cool that the projectiles move around as I turn.
-I enjoyed the fact that there was a pseudo-story progressing with the aliens, from appearing, to leaving, to coming back, and then finally defeated.
-Music was a fun time!

The only problem I had was that I didn't initially understand that I was heating up when I wasn't driving, so I had one early death. But the remainder of the ride is pretty smooth on the second try.

Thanks for the feedback!  Glad you enjoyed the experience!
